Excel skills used every day at

A real sheet, not a video

Every lesson runs in a working spreadsheet in your browser. You click cells, type formulas and press Enter, just like at work.

Mistakes, explained

Typed the result instead of a formula? Used the wrong function? You’re told what went wrong and how to fix it, not just “incorrect”.

Your Excel, not ours

Excel changes its function names, separators and error codes with the language and region of your computer. FormulaDojo follows yours, and converts formulas you copied from somewhere else.

Never used Excel? Start here.

Lesson 1 takes about two minutes: five guided steps, from clicking a cell to adding up a range. No account needed.

Practise Excel online, the hands-on way

FormulaDojo is an Excel practice site. Instead of watching someone else use a spreadsheet, you work in one: 51 short lessons and 298 exercises, each checked the moment you press Enter.

Why practising beats watching

A formula you only watched someone type is easy to forget. Writing it yourself, getting it wrong and fixing it is what makes it stick. Each lesson is a short guide followed by exercises in a real sheet, so your time goes into typing formulas, not scrolling past them.

Practise Excel in your browser

Every exercise runs in a spreadsheet on the page: no Excel install, no file to download. Formulas calculate like Excel, and what you learn works the same in Excel for Windows, Excel for Mac and Excel for the web.

Feedback that says what went wrong

When an answer is wrong, the checker tells you why: a cell left empty, a number typed where a formula belongs, a different function from the one the exercise practises, an approximate match in VLOOKUP, or an error such as #N/A and what usually causes it. A hint and the full answer are there when you’re stuck.

In your Excel’s language

Excel translates function names and changes separators with your computer’s language: SUM is SOMME in French and SUMME in German, and many countries separate arguments with a semicolon. FormulaDojo uses the names and separators of your Excel, in English, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish, and converts a formula you paste from elsewhere.

From your first formula to pivot tables

The course follows the order you’ll need things at work: cell references and keyboard shortcuts, then SUM, AVERAGE, SUMIF and COUNTIF, IF and text functions, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and INDEX MATCH, dates, and data tools such as drop-down lists, conditional formatting and pivot tables. Each topic ends with a project on a realistic sheet, like a household budget or an order invoice.

Excel skills for work and job tests

Finance, accounting, sales, operations and data roles use spreadsheets every day, and some hiring processes include an Excel test. The functions in this course, like SUMIFS, IF, XLOOKUP and pivot tables, are the ones that come up again and again. Practise them until they’re automatic and you work faster, with fewer mistakes.

Points, belts and a certificate

Every solved exercise earns points, and more on a first try. Points take you up the dojo belts from white to black, and a daily goal and a streak keep the habit going. Finish the whole course to get a certificate with a public page anyone can open to check it.

Questions

I’ve never used Excel. Where do I start?

Lesson 1, Intro to Excel. It starts with clicking a cell and ends with your first SUM, in five short steps.

Do I need Excel installed?

No. The sheet on each page calculates like Excel in your browser. What you learn works the same in Excel and Excel for the web.

Which Excel languages are supported?

English, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. Function names, separators and error codes follow the Excel you pick.

Is it free?

Lesson 1 is free with no account, and lesson 2 is free with an account. Later lessons are part of Premium, which you can pay for monthly, yearly or once.

What happens when I get an answer wrong?

The checker tells you what’s wrong with your formula and how to fix it. Try again as many times as you like, open a hint, or show the answer.

Can I practise Excel keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Three lessons cover moving and selecting with the keyboard, AutoSum, fill and copy and paste. You press the real keys, and each exercise checks that you used the shortcut.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. When you finish every lesson of the course, you get a certificate of completion with your name and a public page anyone can open to verify it.

Is FormulaDojo made by Microsoft?
